Our Services

Prairie Fire Farms offers full care boarding, lessons, training, and sales.  Our focus is on building a good relationship between horse and rider.  We do this through a soft, balanced seat, the correct use of aids, and a patient approach to training.  Lessons are available in English or Western; Dressage, Jumping, or Pleasure, and even a little Driving.  We welcome riders of any age and level, from beginners to the more refined rider.  We also have miles of trails that are easily accessible.  We go to some shows if that is your interest - you are more than welcome to compete (your horse or one of ours) if you are ready, or just come along for a fun day of cheering our riders on.  We do not believe in pressuring people to show (or to win) - we would rather you ride for your enjoyment and improve your skills so that you can become a better horseman (or horsewoman).

Trail to Zion Benefit Horse Show

September 2, 2007
Hosted by Twin Brooks Horse Show Association

Andrea Gibson, one of PFF's instructors, is preparing to go to Katima Mulilo, Namibia, Africa to volunteer at a Christian AIDS orphanage for one year, beginning in October.  While she is there, she will be helping to run the equestrian program for the kids of Children of Zion Village orphanage.  She will be helping to care for the horses and to give the children the confidence and responsibility that comes with good horsemanship.  Prairie Fire Farms and Twin Brooks Horse Show Association are excited to support her in this, and is organizing a fundraiser to benefit Andrea and Children of Zion.  Andrea is faced with raising over $6,000 to cover her airfare and expenses while she is there, and at PFF we are doing everything we can to help with this task.

On September 2, we are holding a benefit horse show featuring competition in Extreme Trail and Gambler's Choice Jumper divisions.  There will be multiple levels of each of these, and all ages and breeds are welcome!  A $15 minimum donation is requested to compete, but equine supplies can be donated in leiu of cash.  In addition to the competition, there will be other activities going on that will be fun for the whole family!  If you are interested in competing, or for more information on Chidren of Zion and what Andrea will be doing, contact PFF at 717-469-2756.  For more specific information about Trail to Zion, including entry forms and prize list, visit www.tbhsa.com.

What is Exteme Trail?
Extreme trail is a type of trail competition that is, well, extreme.  At the lowest level, it resembles a standard trail class, with a course of obstacles that must be completed but that is not timed.  At the higher levels, it takes place in and out of a ring, includes tougher obstacles, and is judged solely on time.  For example, a rider may be asked to drag a string of tin cans behind their horse for 10 feet.  Or the horse and rider team may have to pass through a beaded curtain.  It is designed to be a test in the horse's trust and obedience to the rider.  Never done an extreme trail class?  That's alright, come on out and give it a try!  English or western tack is acceptable.  For more details on the obstacles included at each level, check out www.tbhsa.com.
