Our instructors:

Emily Twilley-Selvey:

Emily has been riding since she could walk, and has been teaching lessons for over 15 years.  She enjoys many aspects of the horse world, whether it be taking a student to a rated show, going on a leisurely trail ride, or helping a child learn how to drive a pony cart.  Her focus is on horsemanship beyond just riding.  Students take part in the lesson horses' care and learn the basics that lead to confidence, safety, and fun around horses.  She loves to teach many different disciplines (Western, Dressage, Jumping, etc...), all from a balanced and classically correct system that keeps the horses happy and healthy.  Partnership between horse and rider are top priority.
Emily loves to continue learning about her passion, and so frequently attends clinics and takes lessons herself so that she can better serve her students and horses.

Andrea Gibson:

Andrea is a recent graduate of Houghton College, where she completed a minor in Equestrian Studies and where she earned her CHA Instructor certification.  She has been teaching lessons for several years, gaining experience especially by working as an instructor/counselor at Houghton's summer riding camp and as a teaching assistant for a few of the college's riding courses.  While she enjoys western and jumping, dressage is her current focus and true passion.  As a Houghton student, she was able to ride the college's schoolmasters, learning how to ride some of the upper level movements (such as canter pirouettes and tempi changes).  She has ridden in clinics with FEI licensed judge Carel Eijkenaar, Dutch Olympic trainer Henk van Bergen, and Walter Zettl, author of Dressage in Harmony and coach of the 1984 silver-medal winning Olympic dressage team.  Andrea loves to apply what she has learned about classical dressage training to improve horses and riders in all disciplines, resulting in more balance, coordination, and harmony between horse and rider.
